Volunteer Opportunities
If you want to learn how to get involved with your local land trust, you are in the right place! Volunteer opportunities range from weekly help in the office to helping with mailings every once in a while and from helping restore and revive conserved properties to building new trails.
We would love to talk with you about how to best combine your interests and skills with our land conservation mission!
Special Events
CMLC puts on a number of special events every year that help us connect with the community and celebrate conservation. Volunteers are an integral part of these events, helping ensure they go smoothly by filling a wide variety of needs. Please consider joining us as a volunteer for one of the following upcoming events! Spots are limited so please RSVP.

In the Office
Volunteers are essential to helping us keep our databases up to date as well as making sure we reach all of our members with important mailings several times a year. Opportunities for regularly scheduled and on-call office volunteering are available.
Outreach
We hope that all CMLC volunteers will contribute to outreach...talking to your friends and neighbors about Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy and why you choose to volunteer with us. The sky is the limit in outreach, and we welcome the chance to work with volunteers who want to organize fun and easy ways to connect more people with the beauty of the conserved lands around us.
Stewardship
Our stewardship volunteer program offers excellent opportunities to get outside and involved with active management on conserved lands in your community. Join us for trail-building and maintenance, habitat restoration and invasive species control, monitoring conservation easements and more!
- Florence Preserve Management Team - CMLC is currently looking for trail maintainers and trail monitors to Keep Florence Beautiful.
- Conservation Easement Monitoring (Spring and summer monitoring is starting now!)- This is a great way to get out on many of our beautiful conservation properties and do some hiking! Monitoring is a flexible volunteer opportunity.
- Stewardship Workdays - CMLC has no scheduled upcomming stewardship workdays at this time.
Groups
We love to work with groups to set up and coordinate unique volunteer opportunities. Contact us today to learn out about possible projects for your group. Here are a few awesome groups that have helped us in the past:

Photography
CMLC is looking for a dedicated core of skilled photographers to help us develop a collection of photographs of the land and people we work with. This group of volunteers will receive free access into CMLC events, as well as an opportunity to hike many of the beautiful and rugged wilderness conservation properties that are not currently open to the public. This is a great opportunity for any photographer to gain access to a plethora of excellent places and events to photograph. Prospective volunteers: please provide a basic portfolio or example of your work when you apply. Thank you!
