Constance Vlahoulis - Conn Artist Studios & Art Gallery

Constance's goal and mission is, "To become a Better Artist and Help Others Do the Same."

My work includes Oils, Acrylic, and Mixed Media of the everyday places and subjects we all love. My pallet is clear and colorful. Self taught, and having learned to create without fear of failing, my goal is always to uplift the viewer.  I often paint animals in a whimsical way. I enjoy producing conceptual art and welcome commissions of same. If I feel I cannot do it justice, chances are I know who, among the hundreds of artists I know can and will!

The Conn-Artist Studios & Art Gallery is located in Atha Plaza at 611 Greenville Highway in Hendersonville, NC. They are open on Wednsdays and Fridays from 10-4 pm.

The Studio is an oasis for local artists offering classes in Oils, and three Watercolor classes all by different well-known top notch instructors.  "Open Studio" on Wednesday and Fridays offers a place to paint with other artists. Some members of the "creative tribe" have been painting together since 2005.

The glue that holds the studio together is Constance's mother, artist Barbara Hipwell.  Her work is sought after for it's impressionistic loose prolific technique. She knows how to not "overwork" a painting and thus keeping her work fresh and lovely to look at.  Both mother and daughter have paintings also available in the dining room at Blue Water Seafood and Wine Co. in Hendersonville.

At their studio, other works by studio artists and guest artists, along with pottery by Dian Magie is available for sale.  Currently, Constance has a One-Woman Show at Hotel Indigo in downtown Asheville. Many of her images have recently been accepted at Mountain Made Gallery in the historic Grove Arcade. She is also represented at The Design Gallery in charming Burnsville, NC.

Pictured Right:  "Mills River Valley After the Spring Rains" Valued at $800, this painting was donated by Constance and will be silently auctioned at the Conservation Celebration on October 1st.

Jerry McAninch - Jerry-Built Jewelry

Artist's Statement:

I have been fascinated by the beauty in natural things, such as stones and shells, ever since I was a child.  Then, some years ago in Washington, D.C. in the National Gallery's East Wing, I saw a wonderful exhibit of ancient Chinese art and architecture.  Also nearby was a case of contemporary stone pendants modeled on the ones in the Chinesse exhibit.  The beauty of those stones, simply combined, seemed to me an elegant integration of nature and art.  My intention is for my jewelry to emulate that.  The beauty comes from nature; my job of combining and embellishing is secondary.
