Keep Florence Beautiful

The Florence Nature Preserve Manatement Team has three major objectives: to conduct regular ecological monitoring of the preserve, to implement management activities for habitat enhancement, and to ensure that the preserve remains safely accessible for recreational use. Volunteer opportunities include a variety of roles:

  • A small core team (3-5 volunteers) involved with coordinating volunteer work days and making sure management plans are implemented
  • Trail Maintainers who will adopt a trail and take on the responsibility of walking the trail 4 times/year (at minimum) and ensure that any issues on their adopted trail are addressed (downed trees, etc.)
  • Regular visitors who would be willing to help us stay informed of any potential issues by filling out monitoring report
  • People interested in maintaining the trails & preserve—lopping rhododendron, removing invasive plant species, etc. on volunteer workdays

Even if you are unable to be a regular volunteer, please consider filling out the following fast, easy online form to tell us about your hike at Florence Nature Preserve.  owned trees, improper trail usage (such as mountain biking), squatting, poaching, or other issues should be reported using this form!
